A poignant story about ignorance and fear dominating the public discourse. While the "message" of the story is heavy-handed at times, I believe it is an important 1. Yet, my favorite attribute of the story is how Bennett writes the characters of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. This glimpse into an oftentimes-ignored period of Star Trek history shows just how far these characters have come since the original five-year mission.

I can't say this was a great volume, information technology felt a lot like filler for the series.
One of the things that Bennett always does well is show u.s. the growth of the characters from the original serial, in a way that tidies upwards the 1960s tropes and manages to keep the characters true. This gives a new life to our dear old friends that I will exist ever grateful for.

Office Four of the Mere Anarchy series lives upwards to its predecessors, with a chapter that'due south Kirk-dependent but refreshingly not Kirk-axial, with most of the book focusing and Spock and the Enterprise, Chekov and the Reliant, and Maya, Mestikian leader in exile.
I'm really looking forrad to the remaining 2 parts of this novel/novella series.

A pretty good entry in the Mere Chaos series. It has Kirk coming back to help support rebuilding of the planet, and to cheque on progress.

This is when the series started to get just obviously irksome.
